How we collect, use and look after your personal information.
Who we are
The Florist Gate is a trading name of Kelsey Morris, a sole trader based in Burton on Trent. We are the controller of the personal information you give us through this website. You can contact us about anything in this policy at admin@thefloristgate.com or on 01283 521444.
What we collect
- Your details: your name, email address, phone number and billing address.
- Order details: what you ordered, the delivery date, the recipient's name, address and phone number, your card message and any delivery notes.
- Account details: if you create an account, your saved addresses, favourites, important dates you add for reminders and your order history.
- Enquiries: anything you send us through our contact, bespoke, or weddings and events forms.
- Payment: card payments are handled by Stripe. We never see or store your full card number.
How we use it
- To take, make and deliver your order, and to keep you updated about it. We need this to carry out our contract with you.
- To run your account and send the date reminders you ask for.
- To reply to your enquiries.
- To keep records we are required to keep by law, such as for tax.
- To keep our website secure and prevent fraud, which is in our legitimate interests.
- To send you news and offers, but only if you have agreed to it. You can unsubscribe at any time using the link in any email, or by contacting us.
The recipient's details
When you send flowers to someone else, we use their details only to deliver the order and contact them about the delivery. We don't use them for marketing.
Who we share it with
We never sell your information. We share it only with the trusted services that help us run our shop, and only as much as they need:
- Stripe, to process payments.
- Our website hosting and database providers, which store the site and your information securely.
- Our email provider, to send order confirmations, updates and replies.
Some of these services may process information outside the UK. Where they do, they use the safeguards required by UK data protection law. We may also share information if the law requires us to.
How long we keep it
- Order records are kept for six years, as required for tax purposes.
- Checkout attempts that are never paid for are deleted automatically within a few hours.
- Account details are kept until you ask us to close your account.
- Enquiries are kept for up to two years, unless they become an order.
- Marketing preferences are kept until you unsubscribe.
Your rights
You have the right to ask for a copy of the information we hold about you, and to ask us to correct it, delete it, restrict how we use it, or stop using it. You can also withdraw your consent to marketing at any time. To use any of these rights, just contact us. We will reply within one month.
If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information, please talk to us first. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
